Gianfagna is a group of marketing experts in Cleveland, Ohio led by award-winning marketing strategist Jean Gianfagna (here’s how to say Jean’s name).

Jean has been creating and implementing successful marketing communications programs for more than 35 years. She founded her marketing consulting and creative services firm in 1992 after holding high-level advertising and marketing management positions in advertising agencies and on the client side in Washington, DC.

She is a frequent speaker on marketing strategy and publisher of the firm’s Smart Marketing Strategy blog, white papers, and e-books. She has taught marketing strategy, branding strategy, advertising, direct marketing, and marketing communications at several universities and presented numerous programs on marketing at professional conferences.

Jean has received many awards for marketing achievement and entrepreneurial success:

• Distinguished Marketing & Sales Award from Sales & Marketing Executives (SME) in Cleveland, Ohio;
• Rainmaker Award in Marketing and Communications Excellence from Northern Ohio Live magazine;
• Enterprising Woman of the Year Award from Enterprising Women magazine;
• Hall of Leaders, a lifetime achievement award from the Direct Marketing Association of Washington, DC;
• Top 10 Women Business Owners Award from the National Association of Women Business Owners – Cleveland;
• Direct Mail Vendor of the Year Award from the Cleveland Postal Customer Council;
•  Two-time ATHENA Award finalist from the ATHENA Foundation;
• Friend of Education Award from the West Shore Chamber of Commerce;
• “Ten under 10 Award” from the Council of Smaller Enterprises of the Greater Cleveland Partnership honoring ten small businesses in Northeast Ohio that exemplify entrepreneurial excellence.

Jean is a member of the Executive Board of District 5 of the American Advertising Federation, representing professional and student AAF clubs in Ohio, Kentucky, and West Virginia.

She also has served as:

• President of the American Advertising Federation-Cleveland;
• President of the National Association of Women Business Owners-Cleveland;
• President of the Direct Marketing Association of Cleveland;
• Vice President of the Direct Marketing Association of Washington;
• A member of the Ethical Business Practices committee of the national Direct Marketing Association.

Jean has provided marketing strategy services pro bono to multiple nonprofit organizations. She spent six years on the Board of Directors of The Gathering Place, a Cleveland nonprofit serving families touched by cancer, and five years on the Board of the American Cancer Society Cleveland unit.

Jean holds a B.S. in Journalism, summa cum laude, from Ohio University and was named the University’s Outstanding Journalism Graduate. A native of Toledo, Ohio, she is a member of the Thomas A. DeVilbiss High School Alumni Hall of Fame.
